SPECIAL INDUSTRY ADDRESS Featuring MIT
Wednesday, September 19, 2007, 4:00 - 5:00 pm, Room 112

Sensor Networks & Security
Dr. John R. Williams, Director, Auto-ID Labs at MIT
RFID sensors are now available that can communicate via RF not only their identity but information about their location, temperature, presence of specific chemicals etc. Cell phones can not only act as RFID readers but as tags themselves. The problem of moving data from embedded processors to cell phones and from there to the internet becomes critical. Moreover, the security of the data as it moves needs to be assured. MIT Auto-ID laboratory is working with a number of industry partners on gateways and above gateway systems, such as registries that can provide inference based security tokens to allow access to data. These systems are being tested in the MIT Network Simulator (MEPCSim).
